Earlobe Reduction Video – Treatment

Hello it's William Breakey, consultant plastic surgeon at the Skin Surgery Clinic. This video is illustrating a bilateral earlobe reduction that we did on this lovely gentleman a week or so ago. You can see initially the marking to give a nice natural crease to the ear. We could not take too much away given the overall height of this gentleman's ear, but we could certainly neaten up the lobes, which is what he wanted. Firstly we have made the initial skin cuts and we have removed the bulk of the earlobe and then used a number of simple interrupted sutures to close the wound. Is us moving on to the other side where we will ensure symmetry, perform the same procedure again, dry up any little bits of bleeding and then suture the wounds again. Important to put separate sutures into the cheek as well as the ear so that we do not create a pixie ear deformity and that what you could see us doing down on his cheek rather than the ear. Here we're finishing off the sutures, giving a nice natural appearance.
