Laser Skin Resurfacing

Fractional laser skin rejuvenation is a proven way to improve the tone, texture and appearance of skin. By stimulating the body's own repair processes, many types of damage and blemish can be improved as new, healthy skin is produced after treatment.

We offer this treatment with experienced specialist doctors in the safety of our CQC-regulated dermatology clinics.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a non-invasive procedure that uses concentrated light beams to remove damaged skin layers, promoting the growth of new, healthier skin. It's effective for treating:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Acne scars
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Age spots and pigmentation

We have two different medical lasers that we use for this treatment, depending on the patient's own skin and desired outcomes.

The whole treatment was amazing! The staff were knowledgeable, professional and kind. My results are more than I could have hoped for!

Considering this procedure?

Treatment begins with a consultation with your experienced specialist Consultant Plastic Surgeon, who will assess your condition and answer all of your questions about surgery.

Who carries out this procedure?

Does laser skin resurfacing work?

Yes, laser skin resurfacing is one of the most effective treatments for visibly improving skin texture, reducing wrinkles, fading scars, and evening out pigmentation.

It works by removing damaged outer layers of skin and stimulating the production of collagen in the deeper layers. Most patients see a noticeable improvement in skin quality within a few weeks, with further enhancements continuing for several months as new collagen forms.

It is particularly effective in treating sun-damaged skin, fine lines around the eyes and mouth, and acne scarring.

Is laser skin resurfacing safe?

Laser skin resurfacing is a well-established and clinically proven treatment, particularly when carried out in a medical setting by experienced doctors.

At Skin Surgery Clinic, all treatments are performed by qualified doctors using medical-grade Erbium:YAG and CO2RE laser systems. These lasers allow for highly precise treatment depths with minimal risk to surrounding tissue.

As with any medical procedure, some side effects such as redness, sensitivity, or temporary pigmentation changes may occur, but serious complications are rare when proper aftercare guidance is followed.

What lasers do you use?

Our doctors utilise two types of laser:

Erbium:YAG Laser: Ideal for superficial skin concerns, offering precision with minimal thermal damage, resulting in shorter recovery times.

CO2RE Laser: Often more suitable for deeper skin issues, this laser penetrates further to address more pronounced wrinkles and scars, stimulating collagen production for long-term benefits.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required will depend on your skin type, the condition being treated, and the depth of resurfacing chosen. Some patients may achieve excellent results from a single session, particularly when deeper laser passes are used. Others may benefit from a course of lighter treatments to gradually improve tone and texture with minimal downtime.

Your Doctor or Surgeon will discuss your goals during your consultation and recommend the most appropriate plan for your skin.

Is it suitable for everyone?

Laser skin resurfacing is suitable for many people, but not all skin types or medical histories are suitable for treatment.

It is generally most effective and safest on lighter skin tones. Patients with darker skin may be at increased risk of pigmentation changes and may be advised to consider alternative options.

We may also advise against treatment if you have certain skin conditions, a history of abnormal scarring, or are currently using medications like isotretinoin. A full medical and skin assessment is carried out before treatment to ensure suitability.

How long do the results last?

Results from laser skin resurfacing are long-lasting, particularly when supported by a good skincare routine and sun protection. Improvements in texture and tone are often visible for several years, with collagen production continuing for up to 12 months post-treatment.

While natural ageing will continue, many patients find that their skin looks smoother and fresher for years following treatment. Maintenance treatments can be considered if further rejuvenation is desired in future.

Brilliant experience from Skin Surgery Clinic and could not fault on any part of the procedure.
