Henry came to us to discuss the possibility of an otoplasty – corrective ‘ear pinning’ surgery. After treatment he shared his story and photos with us help other patients learn more about the treatment process. Watch the video or scroll for Henry’s recovery photo and written story:

Having been self-conscious about my ears since I was young, I decided that this year was the perfect time to prioritise myself and find a permanent solution. After doing some research, I found that the procedure wasn’t nearly as daunting as I had initially feared. Even though it involved surgery, I felt confident and reassured. I knew then that it was the right moment to move forward and get the ears I’ve always wanted.
Naturally, my primary hope for the surgery was a smooth procedure free of complications. Beyond a safe recovery, my main priority was a swift return to my active lifestyle; I was eager to minimise any downtime that would keep me away from work or the sports I love. Regarding the aesthetic outcome, since my ears were asymmetrical to begin with, I wasn’t necessarily chasing “perfection,” but I did remain quite particular about achieving a balanced, refined look that I could finally feel confident about.
Finding the right provider was a process that involved extensive research and a broad search for the best fit. I initially explored options in London, where I primarily live, and even considered traveling overseas for the procedure. Ultimately, I chose The Skin Surgery Clinic, located in an area I’ve grown familiar with through work travel over the last few years. From the start, I felt a high degree of confidence in my choice; the clinic offered the perfect balance of high-quality care and reasonable cost, supported by a clear, informative website. Most importantly, speaking with the team over the phone was an incredibly reassuring experience that solidified my decision.
The surgery went exactly as I had hoped; in fact, I found the entire experience far more enjoyable than I thought I would. I was primarily in the care of Mr. Sainsbury and Kieran Cole, both of whom provided fantastic company throughout the procedure. They managed to keep the conversation light and engaging while remaining meticulously attentive to both my comfort and the specific aesthetic results I was looking for. Mr Sainsbury had a questionable taste in music, but this was the only real pain I had to endure! The procedure was completed in about an hour, and looking back, I wouldn’t change a single thing about the experience.
The aftercare experience was exceptional, and I was especially grateful for how flexible the team remained despite my somewhat manic work schedule. I stayed in consistent email contact with Kieran, and even had a follow-up call with Mr. Sainsbury a few months later to ensure everything was on track. The clinic provided everything I needed, allowing me to focus entirely on my recovery. While the first few days naturally involved some minor discomfort, it was never unmanageable, and I was able to return to work quite quickly. For the first few months, I wore a headband at night as instructed—and honestly, I didn’t mind the 80s tennis player look! I followed the clinic’s advice carefully and I experienced no complications; my recovery was exactly as they described.
I would absolutely recommend The Skin Surgery Clinic; if I ever need to consider another cosmetic procedure in the future, they will undoubtedly be the first place I look. There is truly nothing I can fault about the process, and I would encourage anyone even remotely considering a procedure to give them a call and discuss their options. I couldn’t be happier with my results, and I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way.
