Stretched Earlobe Reconstruction
Flesh tunnels, flesh plugs and other heavy gauge jewellery can stretch the earlobes beyond the skin's natural capacity to shrink back. Generally, a hole more than 10mm in diameter will remain stretched, but this will vary depending on how quickly the hole was stretched and a person's natural skin elasticity.
Many patients find the remaining hole unsightly and wish to recreate their original earlobe shape.

What are my options for stretched earlobe reconstruction?
We offer surgical reconstruction of the earlobe(s) with one of our highly experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeons.
The surgeon will discuss your hopes from surgery with you and then carry out a procedure in one of our Minor Operating Suites. During the procedure, some tissue and skin will be removed from your earlobe(s) and then the lobe(s) will be carefully stitched back together.
After the surgery is complete you will return home the same day. We will later review your healing and, if needed, remove any non-dissolvable stitches.

What are my treatment options for Stretched Earlobe Reconstruction?
Stretched earlobe reconstruction is a surgical procedure carried out in our Minor Operations Suite (MOPS).
The procedure involves the removal of the earlobe's excess skin and the reconnection of the tissue. A anaesthetic injection will minimise any discomfort you might feel. We are able to reconstruct either one or both earlobes during a single procedure.
The length of time to reconstruct one earlobe is approximately 45 minutes and for both earlobes, just over an hour.
The cost of the procedure is £850 for one earlobe reconstruction procedure and £1250 for both earlobes during the same procedure.

From filling out the online consultation form and submitting photos of my damaged earlobes, to discussing the procedure over the phone and attending the clinic, all the staff were friendly, polite and helpful.

"I had my ears stretched for over 15 years and made the decision to have them re-constructed prior to my upcoming wedding in 2026. I had always loved having them stretched but after some dermatitis flare-ups, I decided now was the right time.
I felt a little nervous on the day of my procedure, as I would expect most people feel on the day of any surgery, however I did feel very well prepared and excited! I was excited to see how my new earlobes were going to look.

"I stretched my ears when I was 15 and I loved them at the time, but then as I got older, they didn't look how I wanted them to look anymore, so it felt like the right time to have them stitched up so I could wear earrings again. When I turned 30 I thought it was time to get them done and move on from my teenage past.
On the day of the procedure, I felt calm and happy with the decision to do it. I researched different places and locations and saw that the Skin Surgery Clinic was the best choice for me. I wanted to go to a reputable place where there was a plastic surgeon carrying out the procedure.
