Background
Dr Butterworth graduated from Newcastle upon Tyne University in 2007. She completed her foundation training in Newcastle, before taking up a Plastic Surgery Clinical Fellow post there in 2010.
In the NHS, Dr Butterworth works in the Cleft Lip and Palate Service within the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Team in Newcastle. She holds regular skin cancer clinics within this role, is a member of the Ear Reconstruction Team within the department and spends the rest of her time completing valuable research.
Specialism
Dr Butterworth's areas of clinical interest include cleft lip and palate, skin cancer, treatment of benign skin lesions and earlobe reconstruction. She is a core member of the Newcastle NHS Trust's Plastic Surgery Multidisciplinary Team.
At Skin Surgery Clinic Newcastle she carries out a range of procedures including skin lesion removal, earlobe reconstruction and laser removal of minor skin lesions. She also completes mole mapping and mole checks (skin cancer diagnosis).
