Can I use my private health insurance at Skin Surgery Clinic?

Skin Surgery Clinic in Leeds now accepts patients with private medical insurance from Bupa and WPA, making it easier to access specialist minor surgery with no waiting list and without paying for treatment up front yourself.

If you are insured with Bupa or WPA, many procedures can be covered by your policy. These may include:

  • the removal of skin lesions such as moles, cysts and xanthelasma
  • skin cancer removal surgery
  • hand and wrist surgery such as carpal tunnel surgery
  • earlobe repair or reconstruction following damage
  • and more

How the process works

Using your private medical insurance is straightforward. The steps are typically as follows:

1. Contact your insurer
Call your insurer and explain the skin concern you would like to have assessed. They will confirm whether your policy may cover the consultation and provide an authorisation code. They can also advise if your policy includes an excess.

2. Book your consultation
Contact Skin Surgery Clinic Leeds on 01943 882012 to arrange your appointment. When booking, please provide your authorisation codemembership number, and details of any excess on your policy.

3. Confirm treatment approval if needed
During your consultation, your doctor or surgeon will advise you whether a treatment/procedure is recommended. If it is, you may need to contact your insurer again with the procedure code that we provide to you, in order to confirm that the treatment is covered.

4. Arrange your procedure and follow-up
Once authorisation is confirmed, the clinic team will help you arrange your treatment. A follow-up appointment will usually be scheduled afterwards to review healing and discuss results if required.
