One of our surgical nurses shows you what happens when you return to the clinic to have your stitches removed.
Lots of our treatments do not involve stitches. If you’re coming for a laser treatment or a dermatology appointment, for example, you will not have a wound that requires sutures.
But some surgical procedures, such as cyst removal and lipoma removal, do involve closing the wound by stitching the skin together. This is done to help the skin heal quickly and neatly.
“I’m nervous about having my stitches removed”
Patients often ask, “should I be worried about getting my stitches out?” and so we stepped into the treatment room to video as Surgical Nurse Helena Miles removed a patient’s sutures.

The Stitch Removal Process
As you can see, having your stitches removed is a quick and straightforward process.
A Nurse or HCA carefully removes the protective dressing and stitches from the healed skin, and applies a new dressing if needed. They will then let you know about how to look after the skin while it continues to heal. Finally, they will answer any other questions you might have.
