Background
Mr Meredith is a consultant eye surgeon based in Newcastle and specialises in plastic surgery of the eyelids and orbit.
He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2010 after receiving several prizes and a distinction in Medicine and Surgery. After undertaking junior doctor training in Cambridge he completed seven years of post-graduate Ophthalmic Specialist Training on the south coast of England including one year of advanced specialist training in Oculoplastics in Portsmouth. He completed a further two internationally recognised advanced fellowships in Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Orbital surgery at Cardiff and Manchester before taking up his consultant post at the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Meredith is actively involved in education and training helping to run the advanced Newcastle Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery. He is part of the Royal college of Ophthalmology Surgical Skills Faculty, and an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Mr Meredith is passionate about research, with multiple papers published and several research awards. He is currently Principal Investigator for a number of trials of novel biological (monoclonal antibody) treatments for Thyroid Eye Disease.
Specialism
Mr Meredith specialises in surgery of the eyelids and periocular area including eyelid malposition and blepharoplasty. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmology and a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society.
